Seller’s Comments

All vehicle trades considered including classics and performance.  We can assist with financing and shipping as needed.

This 1965 Pontiac Tempest Custom sedan is as practical a classic car as you might find.  Not only is it a great looking stacked headlight Pontiac, but it also offers a reliable 326ci V8 engine, automatic transmission, and room for six along with a spacious trunk.  It also includes the original owner’s manual and Protect-O-Plate which you don’t often find.  If you’re looking for a classic 4-door then this one is worth checking out.

Of course, the Tempest platform was the launching pad for the LeMans and GTO models.  The 1965 version is one of the most popular and was the first year for the stacked headlight design and crisp tail section.  Sold new in WI and then residing in TX, this example is in nice condition throughout with a solid body and original floors.  It retains most of its original Mission Beige paint which has been touched up where needed.  All moldings are in good condition as is the chrome.  The 14” wheels wear Pontiac covers and Firestone 215/70 tires all around.

Power comes from the original 326 cubic inch 2-barrel.  It starts easily and runs smoothly without overheating.  There is some minor leakage noted from the rear main seal.  The transmission is a Super Turbine 300 2-speed automatic transmission (similar to a Powerglide).  You will also find power steering that makes the car easy for anyone to drive.  Recent maintenance includes brake work and a front end alignment.

The Gold interior has an attractive look with the two-tone bench seats.  The door panels, headliner, and carpet are all in very good condition as are the steering wheel and dashboard.  Factory retractable front seat belts are still present while rear seat belts have also been added.  Note the four dashboard pods, same as a GTO.  All lighting works as do the heat, defrost, wipers, washers, horn, radio, and parking brake.  A bumper jack and spare tire are found in the trunk.

These classic 4-door sedans really are a super deal.  You get the look and style of a desirable 1960’s car but with a back seat that people can actually use.  All for a fraction of the price of a coupe.  I’d say this one makes a pretty strong case.
